Last year, some comedy films proved hits. Taking a cue from the successes and to cash in on the hit spree, Palli Kesava Rao and K Kishore launched a banner called Sriramachandrulu Films. They chose a Bollywood's hilarious comedy film Bagham Bagh and remade it as Brahmanandam Drama Company, with Brahmanandam, Sivaji, Ravikrishna and Kamalini Mukherjee in the lead. However, they faced many problems to complete the film. Even after it's completion, they could not get good theatres to release their film as many exhibitors were reluctant to give their theatres for small budget films. Somehow, with the help of some buyers and distributors they succeeded in releasing the film. Despite a big talk by producers, who assured that the film would be a laughing riot, it proved to be a big flop as none of the scenes brought even smile on the faces of audiences.
Anandam (Brahmanandam) brings up two orphans (Sivaji and Ravi Krishna). They turn heroes of the drama company run by Anandam. An NRI, who was a womaniser, impressed with the beauty of the heroine, gives them an opportunity to stage plays in Bangkok. Once, Sivaji and Ravi try to lure the heroine (Sameeksha) of the drama company because she is quite beautiful. Irked over their behaviour, she quits the drama company before they board the flight. As their drama company gets the abroad chance for the first time, the troupe leaves for the Bangkok, on the advice of Sivaji and Ravi, that they would search a girl there as heroine at Bangkok. So, they start a hunt for a girl. In the process, Ravi comes across Arpita (Kamalini Mukherjee), who pretends that she is suffering from a mental disorder with suicide tendency. Ravi somehow manages to bring her and shake legs with them in the show. After some time, again she meets with an accident in a bid to commit suicide and pretends that she is the wife of one Mahendra (Raghu). Again the entire drama troupe gets fixed in a murder case and the police claim that Arpita committed suicide blaming the drama company staff responsible for the death. But the trio (Anandam, Sivaji and Ravi), somehow escape from the police. Later, they face so many problems. Again they find Arpitha alive. She unwinds the real story and tells them that her name is Archana and she got fixed in a trap by Mahendra, who killed his wife. In the climax, the police arrest, Mahendra and the trio heave a sigh of relief.

PLUS: There is absolutely no story in the film and it is just a treatment-based film. The director chose to remake the film, exactly like the Bollywood original. However, none of the artistes could recreate a similar wonder on the Telugu screen. It was Brahmanandam, who stole the limelight with his performance. A couple of songs in the film are good to watch. Honestly, there are no plus points which could take the film on a hit path.

MINUS: None of the heroes Sivaji or Ravi Krishna could deliver good performance and as the title suggested, it is just like a drama and nothing more. Ravi Krishna has neither shown any expression nor shaken leg with ease in dance sequences. Kamalini is okay and a couple of songs shot on her are nice to watch, though not great. The director failed to utilise the huge star cast. Especially, the galaxy of comedians of the Telugu film industry, who co-starred in the film could evoke laughter. All the scenes are cinematic and artificial. Sivajiraja, who is really a good artiste, also has disappointed the audiences with a clown like character. Dialogues by Ramesh-Gopi also lack any punch.

REMARKS: The audience who go to the theatres with a strong belief that the huge cast of comedians would give them adequate entertainment would face a miserable disappointment in the absence of worthy comic scenes. The poor screenplay scripted by the director embarrasses the audiences. The audiences need not feel bad for missing this film.

What's it all about?

Harikrishna and Ram (both played by Kalyanram) are born twins, but Ram is diagnosed to be soft-headed and he develops a grudge on anyone who's more intelligent than he is। In a situation where their dad (Chandramohan) is very concerned about Ram hurting even Harikrishna for the latter's being more intelligent, their mother (Seetha) walks out of the house with Ram, in order to protect her mentally affected child. In a turn of events, Hari, raised by his uncle and aunt (Chalapati Rao & Sudha), turns out to be an IPS officer - the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). In events that follow, Hari gets into a little altercation with the health minister Shiva Reddy (Kota Srinivasa Rao) who is behind a health mafia along with his brother Dr. G.K. Reddy (Rajeev Kanakala), and the chairman of 10TV channel Surya Prakash (Ashok Kumar). Suddenly, both their brothers get killed one after the other. Ram is thought to be behind the murders, since those dead met him just before their murders, and because they claimed they were very intelligent. ACP Hari is in a fix to shoot his twin brother at sight! With CBI intervention, and with the health mafia case in the backdrop, the rest of the story revolves around nabbing Ram and punishing the baddies. ऑफ़course, there are twists and turns that retain the interest of the audience. Performances
Cast:
kalyaanram done two roles as Hari and Ram, and he does the job very well. His performance as a psychopath and as a sophisticated officer are distinct and appreciable, starting with his body language and makeup to his diction. Kalyanram's ease in acting can be seen all through.Priyamani as the love interest of the ACP role, and as an undercover CBI officer, handles the two shades of her role really well. She also gets into some glamor show in the songs.सिन्धु comes as an element of surprise, as a journalist that loves Ram and makes him normal. This is not the first time she takes up such a role - she makes herself a good fit.

Brahmanandam as taxi driver Nijam is good, while Raghubabu as a police inspector adds to some comedy along with him. Ali and Venumadhav appear in insignificant roles that they could have easily handled anyway. Rajeev Kanakala has a short role as a wicked doctor who isolates deadly viruses and later creates and sells the remedy at a high price. The rest of the cast does the job well. Seetha is particularly good in sentimental scenes.

Technical Departments:
The story reminds of Manmatha in its theme, but it seems to be inspired from the Korean film Soo (2007) too. Swarna Subbarao (Vijayendra Varma fame), rechristened as Harsha Vardhan, handled the direction department well. With good screenplay and a story that's modified a lot to suit our nativity, he comes up with a movie that does portray his caliber. Narration is good too, though it could have been better-paced. There are also symbolic shots such as a confident Kalyanram confronting Kota and wearing his "cooling" glasses (sun-goggles) while Kota removes his own "cooling" glasses, indicating that the protagonist is cool and the antagonist lost it. Music by Mickey J. Meyer is one major plus point of the film - songs are good because of lyrics by the veteran Seetarama Sastry and good orchestration and visuals. The choice of using a rap, hip-hop styled song (inkonchem freedom tecchEsukundaam... for a love duet is a bit surprising. Also, the choreography for this song is more surprising because the lyric says the love pair doesn't care for anyone else in the world and that they're the world themselves, but the choreography includes tens of group dancers all over the place! The theme song is really good and used very effectively. Rerecording needs particular mention too, since it elevates the mood of the movie on the whole. Camerawork by Ramprasad is very impressive, with mind-blowing shots such as the glass piece through Kota's hand, reflection of Kalyanram having a different expression than his face, reflection of the hospital roof in Kalyanram's eyeball after CBI investigation, etc.. Dialogues were good in parts, but faced a lot of censoring, with new rules in place. Even the caste-indicating part of Rajeev Kanakala's name is cut out, thus making him "Dr. G.K. (muffled pause)". Some dialogues connected to the current political scenario such as "chaTTam tana pani taanu chEsukupOtundi" by the Health Minister are edited out. Action sequences are well-choreographed and the camera work is very good in fights, but one can expect that the violence levels would be high because one of the two male lead roles is portrayed as that of a psychopath।

Dr Rajasekhar had no notable hits to his credit in recent times. Almost all his films faced successive failures। Recently, he was able to show his face smiling with a moderate hit like Yevadaithe Nakenti. Though not a blockbuster, the film remained an above average grosser. After that Rajasekhar and Jeevitha came across the Kannada film Anna Thangi and both of them were impressed with the subject. Incidentally, the project was proposed by Super Good Films, which had earlier made a film Simharasi with Rajasekhar as hero and Rajasekhar immediately accepted it. VR Pratap, who gave a hit like Nuvvu Vastavani with Nagarjuna wielded the megaphone for the flick.
Sarvarayudu (Rajasekhar) and his wife (Sujitha) are very kind-hearted and they maintain the elderliness in the entire village। However, they do not have any children and on the advice of the local purohit (PJ Sharma), they offer special prayers to Lord Shiva and blessed with a boy Ashok (Rajasekhar) and a girl Lakshmi (Meera Jasmine). As per the astrology, Sarvarayudu and his wife die in a road accident. Ashok and Lakshmi are so fond of each other that they can't live without the other. Nandini (Arthi Agarwal) while trying to escape from an unwilling marriage reaches Ashok and on the advice of Lakshmi, Ashok gives her a job in his factory. At this juncture, Akash (Akash) gets a chance to meet Lakshmi and on learning that Lakshmi likes Akash, Ashok goes to their house by turning an ordinary servant. After inspecting all the circumstances in the house, he satisfies with Akash and decides to perform the marriage. Again at the behest of his sister, Ashok marries Nandini along with Akash and Lakshmi. Then Kantamma, claiming to be Nandini's aunt, reaches Ashok's house. In fact, she comes to take revenge against Sarvarayudu's family, as she bores grudge against them alleging Sarvarayudu is responsible for her husband's (Jeeva) death. Soon Lakshmi becomes the mother of three children. When Nandini turns pregnant, Kantam manages not only to get the fetus aborted but also to remove the uterus to prevent children in the family। Later, Akash gets cheated in the hands of his cousins and gets jailed. This makes Lakshmi and her children on to the roads and she faces the wrath of Nandini too. After facing non-cooperation from her sister-in-law and her vow not to meet Ashok, Lakshmi finds no way out and commits suicide by jumping into a well. After noticing her death, Ashok too dies by holding his sister's hand. The film ends in a tragedy.
PLUS: Dr Rajasekhar is known for doing such roles earlier and he has done complete justice to his role. Likewise, Meera Jasmine has played very well. She is a perfect fit in the role of a sister. Her innocence and lovely looks make their brother-sister combination look excellent. Arthi Agarwal turned so fat and she has not much role to play in the film but to make her appearance in a couple of scenes. Akash is okay as Meera's husband. All the artistes have done justice to their roles. The story, which is basically a tear-jerker, would be very appealing for those who are above 40 years. But it could not enthral the young audiences. The film is aimed at only family audiences and the success of the film can be gauged on how far people come to the theatres to watch the film, sans any mass masala.MINUS: The film has been brought in very old fashioned narration. Many such films came in 70s and 80s and for the present generation audiences, this kind of films are a strict no. Neither it has any mass masala, nor action, nor any youthful subject, love and romance. Those watching the movie were seen commenting as if they were watching a serious family TV serial episode and has nothing to talk much about it. Comedy track by Venumadhav as Sunami Subba Rao has failed to bring cheers to the audiences. Moreover, the Telugu audiences never like a tragic end to any subject.REMARKS: Director VR Pratap chose very old fashioned direction and it is in no way appealing. Moreover, songs tuned by SA Rajkumar are also quite old fashioned. In fact, it gives no scope to good music as the music director has to harp on brother-sister sentiment and all the songs are like lullabies. Cinematography by Akhilan is average while editing by Nandamuri Hari is okay. Dialogues by Gangotri Viswanath too are not very impressive. Producer KS Rama Rao made several blockbusters with Megastar Chiranjeevi, which include Abhilasha, Challenge, Rakshasudu, Marana Mrudangam and Stuartpuram Police Station. But for the last film, all the others were silver jubilee hits. His other films like Chanti, Mutyamanta Muddu and Matrudevobhava was a different genre. He had also made a blockbuster like Criminal with Akkineni Nagarjuna. After a considerable gap, he came out with Bujjigadu by roping in Puri Jagannath, who gave hattrick hits like Pokiri, Desamuduru and Chirutha, as director to give a much awaited break to hero Prabhas, who failed to please the audiences after giving a mega hit like Chatrapati, as his recent films like Pournami, Yogi and Munna failed to reach their expectations. Though Prabhas and Trisha proved a hit pair for one film, their combo also tasted a flop. But their combination with Puri Jagannath did wonders, as Puri Jaganath's magic can be seen all through the film. It is definitely a director's movie and Puri is able to extract good performance from Prabhas.


STORY: Bujji (Prabhas) and Chitti (Trisha) are childhood friends. However, they get separated as Bujji leaves for Chennai. After staying for more than 12 years there, Bujji, who has a strong wish to see his childhood friend, decides to come to Andhra. However, he unintentionally involves in a case and gets jailed. Noticing that Bujji had the nature of doing any kind of job, Machi Reddy (Kota Srinivasa Rao) gives him the job of eliminating Sivanna (Mohan Babu). In fact, Machi Reddy and Sivanna are rivals and both their gangs involve in fights at every opportune time. Now, Bujji sets out on the job of killing Sivanna. Unfortunately, Sivanna's men overpower Bujji. Noticing his guts, Sivanna gives him a job and takes him to his home. After reaching Sivanna's house, Bujji comes to know that his boss is none other than his childhood friend Chitti's brother. Realising that they are childhood friends, Chitti loses her heart to Bujjigadu. Now, Bujji turns the table and joins hands with Sivanna to teach a lesson to Machi Reddy.


PLUS: Prabhas gave an extraordinary performance in the film. Really he has proved himself as an artist with perfect comedy timing, impressive body language and has showed very good ease in action scenes and also in songs. Especially, the dialogue-modulation with East Godavari slang with a scent of Tamil are impressive. The audiences can watch an all-new Prabhas under the direction of Puri Jagannath. Trisha has once again come up with a very good look. Like many of the films in which the heroine has not much scope to perform, this film also did not give much choice for her to perform. But she appeared glamorous in all the songs. She is able to utilise every possible opportunity to impress the audiences on the screen. Another major asset for the film is the performance of Mohan Babu. Especially, the mannerism he used in this film (Silly Fellow) would enthral, not only the hardcore fans of Mohan Babu but also the average audiences. (It is worth mentioning here that Mohan Babu used the same word to address the producer during the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Telugu film industry). Though Sanjana appears as another heroine, she has not much role in the film, excepting a couple of scenes and songs. Kota Srinivasa Rao, Jayaprakash Reddy and others have done justice to their roles.

MINUS: The entire first half of the film was full of hero's worship towards the south Indian Superstar Rajinikanth, his pranks, and other such entertainment-based scenes, and some good action scenes, and other such scenes. The interval bang was the basic turning point of the movie. When it comes to the second half, the director appears to have lost grip in some scenes. However, he is able to withstand all those troubles to give a nice conclusion in the end. He should have handled the other characters also on par with Prabhas and Mohan Babu, but they are used as dummies for the smooth movement of the story.

REMARKS: Though the songs suit the mass image of the hero, they lack the melody. Music by Sandeep Choutha is just okay, especially on the screen. Action scenes choreographed by Vijayan are stylish. Camera work by Shyam K Naidu is impressive and he was able to capture the beauties of New Zealand and other places during the songs. Had Varma used his scissors a little sharper, the film would be more impressive, though none of the scenes appeared irrelevant in the movement of the story.

Creative director Krishnavamsi had a passion to bring out films with socio-fantasy subject. He wants to bring out the story – A battle between the evil power and god power.

The film would be made simultaneously in two languages, Telugu and Tamil. He also chose a title called 'Rudraksha' for the movie.

Tamil hero Sarat Kumar, Shriya, Kannada star Upendra were convinced to play roles in the film, while AR Rahman's nephew GV Prakash, who is currently giving tunes to 'Ullasamgaa… Utsahamgaa…' of Karunakaran, was contacted to score music.

RD Rajasekhar was selected to provide cinematography and the film would be made on the banner of Sri Kartikeya Creations with Sunkara Madhumurali as producer.

It is worth mentioning here that Krishnavamsi had already announced a film on the same banner with Tarun and Genelia in the lead.

It is not known which film would first go to sets under Krishnavamsi's direction.

The combination of producer DVV Danaiah and director Puri Jagannath is repeating once again after 'Desamuduru'.

Another interesting point is that Raviteja, who gave two big hits like 'Dubai Sreenu and Krishna' for the same producer is the hero in the film.

The film to be produced on the banner of Universal Media, would go to sets in July. It may be mentioned here that the combination of Puri Jagannath and Raviteja also proved hits with successful films like 'Itlu Sravani Subrahmanyam, Idiot, Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi'.

The producer and director first planned to introduce a new face as heroine. However, they came to a conclusion to summon Ileana as heroine, as Puri had a blockbuster with the same heroine in 'Pokiri'.

However, there is an unfortunate precedent that Ileana's combination with Raviteja had a biggest-ever flop through 'Khatarnak' which spoiled the images of both the hero and the heroine.

Crazy hero Ravi Teja and long legged heroine Anushka are acting in a movie which is titled as Baladoor with a tagline Veediki Bhadyathalu Ekkuva. Super Star Krishna is playing a vital role in it.

This movie created a sensation during its shooting because of the death of a dupe of Ravi Teja in a Godavari river mishap. The shooting of Balaadur is in its last stage and will mostly be released in the end of June or in the start of July.

Uday Shankar is directing this movie while Suresh Babu is producing it on Suresh Productions banner. KM Radha Krishnan is composing the music.

Power star Pawan Kalyan who is currently busy with the making of his film 'Puli' has not stopped at that and now he has chalked up plans to start off with his dream project 'Satyagrahi' which has been close to his heart since quite a while. The film was originally planned to be produced by A.M. Rathnam. But he is now neck-deep in financial troubles. So Nookarapu has selected Pawan to act as well as direct the film.

Pawan is keen to direct the film since the subject is close to his heart. The script is 75 percent ready. Pawan is now giving finishing touches to the script. If all goes as per plan, then the film will hit the floors early next year.

Story:

A meaningful treat, the film starts with Vijay Chandra (Nitin) who is a perfect bachelor when it comes to looks and physique and a man with an ambition to become an IPS officer. While he is trying to concentrate on his goal, his father (Tanikella) is busy trying to set his son's personal life by looking out for a perfect girl. Vijay has his group of friends Ravi (Shashank) who owns an electronics shop, Satyam (Duvvasi) who works in a buffalo shed owned by his dad. Vijay's father gets to identify a suitable match when he comes across the profile of Janaki (Mamta Mohandas) and gets to speak to her. However, Janaki takes some time since she wants her ailing grandpa Pingali Venkatramaiah (Ravi Kondalarao) to get alright. Meanwhile, she bumps across Vijay and likes him at the first instant when she comes for Ravi's shop inspection. On the other hand, there is a big feud happening between MLA Devaraj (Ashutosh) and Pandu (Supreeth) and both of them race against each other to devour as many lands as possible in the city. Their issue ends with Devaraj killing Pandu but then his path crosses with Vijay when he sets eyes on the 500 acre land of Seetharamaiah society which has been gifted by Pingali Venkaiah, one of them happens to be Vijay's father and along with him many other middle class people who have their dreams. With a heinous plot, Devaraj manages to take over the said land and this brings about a storm in many lives. Vijay, Ravi who have been experiencing trouble with Devaraj in earlier instances realize that this is the limit and now Vijay starts conceiving a plan to counter the evil deeds of Devaraj. Conclusion:

Though land mafia appeared to be the subject, the director was trying to convey a deeper message that it is essential for the people in the society to have unity for a better future. The first ten minutes of the film are truly worth appreciating and the first half goes on with a good pace but amateur romantic plots. The second half is equally racy and without much noise, the message was conveyed clearly to the audience with the regular commercial elements. The film has been made with equal proportions of everything and though there were few hiccups here and there, overall it has come out effectively. Success is written on the cards for this film and perhaps a gentle push from the makers will make it more aggressive to reach maximum audience.

Worth watching once, a good and sincere effort to bring social consciousness!!!

King, a Nag starrer in the direction of Seenu Vytla, is planned to hit the screens on December 18th, according to producer D. Sivaprasad Reddy. Made on Kamakshi Kala Movies banner, the film's regular shoot is under brisk progress since June 6th. He further said that the date was so announced in tune with the sentiment of Nagarjuna, whose blockbusters Manmadhudu, Mass and Don came as December releases. Trisha plays the heroine; and Srihari does a special role. The star cast consists of about 40 busy artistes. It is for the third time Devi Sri Prasad scores music for a Nag film, after Manmadhudu and Mass.

Robot is a forthcoming Kollywood science-fiction film to be directed by S. Shankar, who with Robot, will direct his tenth feature film.

Shankar’s dream has become a reality. His dream project is finally taking shape and the actor if the sources are correct is none other than the Superstar himself.

* On July 27th 2007, shahrukh khan was signed on to be the male lead of Robot and also the producer of the film. An actress from South India, Divya Spandana, approached Shankar for a role but was rejected.

* Apart from the original decided casting of Rajinikanth in the lead role, Shankar as director and A. R. Rahman as the music composer, the rest of the cast is expected to be named within the next six months, with Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka chopra, Deepika Padukone, Asin Thottumkal,
Trisha Krishnan, Shriya saran, Nayantara and Amitabh Bachchan being considered for further lead roles.

*Deepika Padukone will make her debut in Tamil films with S. Shankar's Robot, in which she starrs opposite Rajnikanth, the film is set for a 2010 release, due to its high-cost visual effects.
